Countdown '08 (Season Complete): NHRA's Band of Brothers
Tony Pedregon didn't repeat as champion, but he did the next best thing by clinching the 2008 title for his brother Cruz Pedregon (with his Round 1 win over Robert Hight), bringing a dramatic conclusion to the second year of the Countdown to the Championship in Funny Car.
Cruz won three straight races and 12 straight rounds to cap an impressive 16-3 run through the NHRA Playoffs to win his first championship since 1992, when he went on a five-race winning streak in the McDonald's Olds to drive around John Force.

Snap-on Drivers in the Hunt for NHRA Funny Car Championship
Tony Pedregon Only 10 Points from Championship with Four Races Left
KENOSHA, Wis. - September 23, 2008 - The "Countdown to 1" continues to be a fight to the finish. Tony Pedregon placed second last Sunday at the O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex in Dallas to move into second-place overall in the points standings. Pedregon is now only 10 points out of the points lead while Cruz Pedregon, Tony's brother, is fifth overall in the standings with only four races remaining.

Tony Pedregon Enters the Countdown Looking to Defend Title
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 11, 2008)-- The reigning NHRA POWERade World Champion and his Q Horsepower Funny Car team race to Charlotte, North Carolina in the inaugural Carolinas Nationals. The team has had one of the hottest cars all season with four National Event wins.
The U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis marked the last chance for teams to sneak their foot in the door to be part of the Countdown to 1. Only ten teams from here on out will be able to fight for their chance to win the Championship. The points within the top ten have been reset and now only 30 points separate the top two teams and 10 points separate each of the rest. Tony and the Q Horsepower team enter the Countdown as the number 2-seated Funny Car team.
"We enter the Countdown in a better position in the points, and I feel we are a stronger team than we were this time a year ago," said Tony.
The kickoff to the Countdown to 1 begins at the inaugural NHRA Carolinas Nationals in Charlotte, N.C. from September 11-14. The new zMAX Dragway is the latest state-of-the-art race track. It is one of only three that has a quarter-mile long concrete racing surface, and the first four lane strip of its kind. "I think it's fitting that we kick off our Countdown at such an innovative facility," mentioned Tony. "It's great to have a person like Bruton Smith who sees the potential in our sport to make this kind of investment in a facility. This new venue is a compliment to all of our partners - Q Horsepower, Prestone, Snap-on Tools, Great Stuff, Herzog, Palms Casino, Sioux City Truck, Mr. Gasket, Chevrolet, and all our other great partners."

Tony and Andrea Pedgregon would like to introduce you to the newest member of their family, Benecio Enrique Antonio Pedregon.He was born Friday, August 15th at 12:24 am in Indianapolis, IN and was 7 lbs 8 oz - 19 1/2 inches long. Mom & baby are healthy & resting at home just in time for the U.S. Nationals.

Wicked Quick will sponsor defending NHRA POWERade Drag RacingSeries Funny Car Champion Tony Pedregon, who's racing in Schucks Auto Supply NHRA Nationals July 18-20 in Seattle, Washington. The event will be shown on ESPN2.
